1969 Volkswagen Type Two (Camper)

Family sunset

Asking $10,500 SOLD!

I purchased Donna a.k.a. The Champ in 2004 and for many years she was my faithful daily driver.

During our younger years I spent a wonderful and glorious summer living the "van-life" while I traveled the great American West as a rock climbing guide in California's majestic Sierra Nevada and Utah's incomparable Wasatch Mountains. Donna was waiting for me when I came home from fighting the war on terror in Afghanistan. My wife and I have taken her on some awesome adventures.

It is with deep sense of sadness that I have decided that it is best to let Donna move on to a new home. My family is getting ready to move again and bringing Donna with us would be quite difficult and expensive.

I do not want to bring her with us just to watch her slowly rust away; a home for weeds, spiders, and mice nests. She deserves better than that. However, there is always a silver lining to every cloud - my lose is your gain. Take a look at the photos and if you are interested in scheduling a viewing please contact me using the contact form below.

The Good:

📍 New battery (March 2021).

📍 Rebuilt and cleaned carbs (November 2019).

📍 Rebuilt brakes (June 2020).

📍 New rear drum brakes shoes.

📍 New master cylinder..

📍 Two new brake fluid reservoirs (one in the cab, the other attached to the master cylinder).

📍 New spring kit installed on the rear brakes.

📍 New rear brake calipers

📍 Window rubber replaced in 2013 (still looking good as she was in storage with a car cover), metal work also completed to repair rust in the window well areas.

📍 Engine runs strong (recent compression test returned 100-120 all four cylinders).

📍 Engine compartment hatch has a lock with VW logo key.

📍 Comes with an ingenious hammock that installs above the driver and passenger seats. Perfect for storing luggage out of the way at night or even a bed for a small child or two.

📍 1600cc Dual-port Dual Carb (Baby Webbers).

📍 Curtains are origally from an old college buddies 1972 VW Bus.

📍 Upholstery is in great condition.

📍 Comes with a loaded toolbox, timing light, and a slew of miscelaneous parts and pieces...

📍 I kept very detailed logs of repairs and driving mileage up until Donna went into storage. You can download the spreadsheat here.

📍 Currently I drive her once or twice a week around the neighborhood to visit parks and check the mail.

The Not So Good:

📍 Lights work but it is time to upgrade the electrical system.

📍 Donna runs but she has a persistent as of yet undiagnosed stalling issue.

📍 The tires need to be replaced, one is a trailer tire and two are from the 90's...

Due to the aforementioned issues I have reduced the price significantly. The asking price is firm. I am not willing to come down any further.
